Dr. Jane Kamensky (Harvard University) and Dr. Paul Carrese (Arizona State University) join Dr. Benjamin Gross (Jacksonville State University) for a conversation concerning civic education, freedom of speech, and American democracy in celebration of Constitution Day. The conversation begins with prepared remarks from Dr. Carrese and Dr. Kamensky concerning the Constitution, civic friendship, civic disagreement, freedom of speech, and America's founding. The conversation continues, as Dr. Gross asks questions concerning how to restore trust in America, the role of higher education in civics, and disagreements that emerged in the construction of the Educating for American Democracy initiative. The event then welcomes questions from the audience for the guest lecturers.
