Cisco called, they said they just cancelled your support contract lmao

I really like the Cisco Small Business switches. I’m using them whenever I can.

Many cisco switches do this, enable unsupported transceivers via CLI and it'll take anything. Done it in my homelab

Previously they supported it, but needed to enter a special command to show you were using 3rd party SFP+

This is frustrating from an networking perspective. Without testing every non-Cisco coded optic/DAC/AOC available, you would know what works and what doesn’t. Add onto the fact that support will almost assuredly ask you to use a Cisco branded cable if you have any issues.

Need Cisco encoding, though. HP encoded may not work. (Makes it interesting when you want to connect HP equipment to a Cisco switch using a twinax cable).

As far as I remember you should enable this feature in cli first.

When using DAC it will bypass the authenticity check and there is also a command you can run to allow SFP to work. Of course not supported.
