Coloring Woodturned Pen Blank - Setting Up My Wood

I used a wood dye on my Burled Amboyna pen blank before I actually turning the blank into a pen to see how this color scheme will perform. Now I am trying to save up for a descent wood lathe since my current one has some mechanical troubles that will cost more than buying a new one to replace it...sigh... Thank you all again for all of your support, your kindness, and your patience with me...wood dye was from
and I also won the pen blanks in an eBay auction :)

I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and a lot of other videos of people dying their guitars, because I’m wanting to do a job on a rifle stock, and everybody uses rit dye and acetone, but I feel like you guys have a lot more experience and I’m wanting to bring your guises techniques to the table !

Excellent. A couple of thoughts:
1) I would have liked to see the core of the blank to see how deep the dyes have penetrated, and 2) would placing the dye  and blank in vacuum (as in stabilization) or under pressure (as in casting) make the dye penetrate deeper?
I am subscribing to see if further experiments are done.
Keep the inquisitive good work.

That's beautiful! Im new to wood coloring & that method is what Im looking to do on gun stocks but I don't fully under stand..So you used a blue dye & soaked it deep into the grain, then you sanded it back down until it was almost raw wood but the blue still stayed deep in the grain, then you when over it with a sealer coating & then finally a red am I correct on that?? RIght now my method is to take some stain & rub it in, then wipe it down so it shows the grain lines but doesn't stain the stock a lot then after 1 or 2 coats I use a RIT dyed polyurethane for the final few coats. It turns out decent that way but nothing like what you had done. I see a lot of people who get that effect using an alcohol which is something I don't use. My goal is to get the grain to stand out(possibly with a contrasting color) & then have the rest of the stock a different color, similar like what you did in the video. Any advice on stuff to research for a better understanding or how I could achieve that type of look on a gun stock?? It would be much appreciated! Thumbs up on the job, If you sell any of those dyed pens definitely let me know!
