Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Bible like a preacher
Full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
Women would desire
Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
He ruled the Russian land and never mind the Czar
But the kazachok he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
Who would heal her son
Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
But when his drinking and lusting
And his hunger for power
Became known to more and more people
The demands to do something
About this outrageous man
Became louder and louder
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
"This man's just got to go", declared his enemies
But the ladies begged, "Don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute, they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us", they kept demanding
And he really came
Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and said, "I feel fine"
Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him 'til he was dead
Oh, those Russians

This isn't just a song. It's a story about a certain man in Russia long ago who was big and strong, whos eyes were a flaming glow. However, when most people looked at him, they felt terror and fear. But the chicks from Moscow saw him as such a lovely dear.

I love how this song starts out Russian then instantly turns into a epic 70s cop show song with the bass guitar

He was one of our topics in our history lesson, the exact lyrics were what my teacher used. At the time, I never thought one day I would hear it as a song. The tune and the harmony is just right. Well done, Boney M.

Actually, according to the story, Rasputin survived three shots to the head before drowning in the river where they dumped him, which is possible but unlikely

I still can't get over how they managed to make a song that tells a real story and is so catchy at the same time.

It's amazing how Rasputin became a myth within 100 years. If you read his story it's no wonder people believed him to be a wizard. He managed some bizzare things. Some people believe he still is alive today as Putin.

Rasputin actually never died...
He just removed ras from his name

I had an uncle who used to sing this at all our gatherings, and I used to really enjoy it!!! This song will always remind me and my family of him... And he will always be loved.

I miss you soo much Aji Uncle

It's said that Rasputin had an interest in both, males and females, and that one of the noblemen who killed him was actually his lover.

There is thin line between right and wrong. First he was stabbed in stomach by villager and survived. Years later he was first poisoned by 2 glass of cyanide nothing happened. Then he was shot in chest he stand up and takedown assasinators he tried to escape but was shot in back 2 more time then he was beaten with dumbells and throwed in river and was seen alive in river before he finally died of cold river. Mystical powers in monks and priests arent strange in Orthodox there was many like him but in difference on his face there is no good to be seen. Its something really dark and upseting.
