𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗲 is a symbol of Herceg Novi and a historical attraction.
It is considered that this facility is to be thanked for the construction of medieval Herceg Novi. 🏤

The first stone of this fort was placed by Bosnian King Tvrtko I, around 1382, and it was built to protect the main port from the enemy ships.🏴‍☠️
His monument can be found today at the main port, in front of the fortress. 🤴

Forte Mare name was given by the Venetians in their time of reign, although its size and shape the fortress got during the Turkish reign.

Today, it is one of the most beautiful fortresses in Montenegro. 🇲🇪 😍

The large part of the fortification is open for the visitors, and the quickest way to get to it is from the Five Danica (Pet Danica) promenade.

Nowadays, the top level of the fortress is used as a stage for many summertime events-festivals, concerts, fashion shows, theatre performance’s, etc
