Freeaim VR Shoes: Green Hell - Get immersed & fitter running in the Jungle!

In celebration of Freeaim VR going to exhibit for the first time at AWE USA (May 31 to June 2), we are showing new gameplay every day until the 1st June.

Important notes about video:
1) The footage of the player is cropped to fit and sometimes it looks like the person is going outside the play area but that doesn't actually happen, it's just the narrow camera view.
The floor mat is 1.8m x 1.8m and user remains within that area at all times. The guardian / boundary will still show up if the person gets too close to the edge but that rarely happens.
2) This is a prototype, not the finished product and the tech is being constantly improved in all areas.
3) Movement speed scaling still needs some work. We need to update our SteamVR driver to properly implement running speeds.

Please read our Newsletter to learn more about our progress and where to find us at AWE USA:

More news coming soon, and if you have not already, please take our short 3 min survey, thanks:

Thanks... FreeaimVR

I can't wait to get on of those accesories shoes. Definitely an amazing upgrade of a VR Treadmill. ❤

Looking good! I've held off on getting one of those slidmills for something like this instead. Knew it would happen sooner or later! Can't wait to see more demos.

Possibly the best immersive locomotion solution at the moment! However:

1. The walking posture looks very awkward on camera, is it really feel like natural walking in VR or do you have to adapt to it (like with the slidemills)?
2. Can you do low vertical jumps? Will it damage the shoes?
3. It's impressive that you manage to stay in the play area the whole time. However, I notice sometimes you have to manually readjust your position (like at 4:58, you take 2 side steps for no gameplay reason at all). Does that mean you can't completely trust the motors to do their job to keep you in the original coordinate?

Keep it up. You and the Exit Suit guy have the 2 most promising VR locomotion solutions right now!

The fact you can jog in these is seriously impressive. Great work! It's hard to tell how accurate they are without being in the environment. It doesn't look super-smooth, but then walking isn't a super-smooth process either. Software can always be tweaked, and I hope you would consider open-sourcing some of it, or having it modable so people can try improving the algorithm with machine learning techniques, etc. Can't wait to try them out!

Amazing now you can jog with them. I really believe this is the future of locomotion!

Why does the movement in VR start and stop instead of being smoothed? In real life we move in a smooth motion while walking why not have that with the shoes too?

if you could test resident evil 4 vr that would be insane

How damage absorbent are the shoes? Because I guarantee you that in VR chat people are going to want to jump or something.

Love the idea of these. But I can't help but notice with every step, the game footage stops, then moves again. It's as if every step is tapping the keyboard once to move forward. Maybe this isn't noticable in-game but I sure see it in the footage you're posting. Hope I can try these some day for myself.

Wonderful work, but my initial worries remain the same, is there a possible way to carry momentum within the game? or could you try out a game where your movement in game affects your position accurately as you are in vr?

Y cuánto más o menos costarán por qué se ven muy útiles

The problem that's there since v9 prototype is that the walking transfers to game kinda robotic. Like, the walking isn't smooth.

Is it the technology or is it supposed to be that slow ingame?

not noticeable running or walking but keep it up

This clip is also amazing! But like the other said in this video. If you make the movement smoother and exaggerate velocity of speed by foot steps though it is not realistic to you in your next video. More people would like to buy or back your project.
