Monumentally stupid debate on Greenpeace protest at Rishi Sunak's house

Greenpeace staged a protest at Rishi Sunak's North Yorkshire house, after the Prime Minister decided to give the green light for oil companies to drill to their pockets content in the North Sea. Sunak is attempting to con the public into believing this will make a difference to our energy bills - for the record, it will not, because all oil extracted from the North Sea is sold onto the international market by the oil companies, and we have to then buy it back.

Rishi Sunak is this week on an overseas holiday with his family, so Greecepeace took the opportunity to drape the vacant house in black sheets, displaying their displeasure for his policies which are so blatantly counterproductive for a government claiming to care about climate change and net zero.

The media reacted with their usual hysteria, but never was it more present than during this debate on Storm Huntley's Channel Five show, in which co-executive director of Greenpeace, Areeba Hamed, seemed to wander straight into an ambush.

Brace yourself for some of the most ridiculous arguments against a protest you are ever likely to hear from both right-wing media hack Angela Epstein, and TV/radio presenter, Shay Kaur Grewal.

Oh, and check out the appalling moderation of the debate from Storm Huntley, as the entire thing is allowed to descend into a hysterical farce by her crazy panellists.

I totally support Greenpeace's action. Sunak's decision is totaly personal and he and his cronies have millions of shares in the oil industry

Trespass is not a criminal offence. It is a civil matter. Unlike this Channel 5 show.

Sunak is a disaster capitalist. I support Greenpeace, I just started donating to them! 👍

From what I've seen so far, the majority of people are on the side of Greenpeace. Btw, isn't Sunaks father in law going to make a lot of money through one of his companies, from these contracts? Mathew Wright is sorely missed from that show. I hope the money is worth Storm Huntley's integrity.

It was a lottery to find which home to do it too, because he has eight.

If 15 people came to my house and peacefully protested ...
Of course I wouldn't feel comfortable, but that's the whole point of peaceful protest,
As long as there was no terrorising behaviour and it remained peaceful, there's nothing I should be able to do.
If protest becomes something we can all ignore, then it becomes pointless.

Storm is out of her depth when it comes to serious journalism, and being grilled by these three witches is laughable.

Asking the head of Greenpeace to forget about " The climate crisis" is like asking me to forget to breath

😲 Matthew, l am not at all surprised by this farce of a ‘debate’. Yet again the same criticisms of protesters surfaced from the bobble heads on the programme. As you rightly pointed out, far worse action was taken by WOMEN campaigning for the right to vote. Ariba Hamed from Greenpeace stood her ground very well, against those hostile panellists in the tv studio. Both need to remember the scenes of recent protests in France before presenting what Greenpeace did here as such a major crime.

I will comment as my contribution to feeding the algorithm because there is no way I could watch that again. To call it a debate is at best a misuse of the word, and even though I'm a ginger myself I really hope global warming makes that red headed one melt !!
