I think van life seems more practical for solo one person life or a couple and maybe a travel friendly pet at most, but I think a bunch of issues can arise when it comes to a whole family and meeting children's needs, educational, social, etc., and healthy development into teen hood and adulthood.

My dad once wanted us to have a “van life experience”, but my mom cut him short and said “you can have that experience all by yourself for as long as you want, but the kids and I are are gonna live at an apartment”. It’s been ten years since that and he’s never brought the topic up again

I've been crammed in a trailer with my sisters for three months. It really strained our relationship because there was no privacy, we would fight often, and our mom wouldn't let us get out of the trailer to let off steam because "that's embarrassing ". Like I thought she said it was an exercise in humility so not sure why she was embarrassed. I was seriously thinking that when winter came, I'd just sleep outside and let the elements take me but then someone from church let us live in their house for the winter. ...And I was told I better not get us all evicted. Come on now, I wasn't allowed to let off steam either.
