Push open the virtual doors of Queens' Old Library and follow one of its librarians into the medieval past as she reveals a world of hidden treasures and long-forgotten readers.

Dating from 1448, the Old Library contains 30,000 volumes including medieval manuscripts, incunabula, books with elaborate bindings and early editions of important works. With many books in their original 16th-century bindings and shelved on the medieval lecterns turned into bookcases, the Library is notable in that it remains close to its original state.

I have to see this library. I can only imagine that incredible smell of history. Being able to touch books that have been handled and used by some of England's greatest academic peoples. So wish I was here...

A great collection and an amazing history. There are no such excellent collections of antique books in Poland, so it is especially nice to see them abroad.

Thank god it was not burned or damaged in many of the wars since, especially the blitz.
