Nobody cares about safety standards until something happens...

The insurance and companies involved need to hold liability. This should not be fixed with tax payer dollars

The officials don't care they only talk about solutions after a disaster happens.

Switching to geico could save you up to 15% or more on your bridge insurance.

As i suspected. Ship deficiencies. Now we have to look into who allowed this ship to keep going so we can get justice for the families of the victims

The tax payer should NOT have to pay for this!!! Hold the shipping company responsible and make it happen!!! LETS GO BRANDON

They keep saying the ship lost power, you can see the exhaust from the diesel engines and you can see the bridge still had lights. It didn't lose power, they lost control...huge difference. One thing that no media outlet has discussed is that all ships leaving the harbor are piloted by a certified pilot that takes the ship out of the harbor then returns the ship back over to the captain in open waters. That harbor pilot goes through an entire inspection and functionality assessment before taking the ship out of the harbor. Something seems very sus...either he had said "screw it I'm not going to do my job" and the ship was heavily compromised and decided to pilot the ship anyway. Or the ship was seaworthy and all controls and safety systems were operational and something else happened.

We need to have standards for ships entering and leaving our ports. Clearly this ship was not being maintained.

You just never know how your end will come. Drivers worried about not having a collision before they get their auto insurance paid and instead the bridge they are driving across collapses with them on it and down headed into the icy water.

If the bridge is that soft and sensitive and rickety and susceptible then these size and weight ships should not be going anywhere near them. I mean it's common sense. Any sea vessel can lose control and propulsion at any time.

The ship taking a hard right into pillar is not suspect at all.

Why was there No Tug Boat assisting the ship until it was out of the harbor..???

*Thanks to the Indian crew who saved the lives of many Americans 😮*

Another aspect of this is that this very large ship was not escorted through the seemingly narrow channel by tug boats, a commons practice in many other ports.

After learning more during the past 24 hours: 1. The Dali lost steering (rudder) but the single screw engine was running. The ship was experiencing power outages while underway. 2. Dali was moving forward at 7-8 knots when the exhaust cloud was seen on the video. This was caused by reversing the engine to slow or stop the vessel. 3. Like any single screw vessel it pulled hard to starboard (right hand direction) when thrown into reverse but kept moving forward. Even in reverse a nearly 1, 000 ft. container ship will not stop on a dime. The rudder was not available to counteract this pull to starboard. This is what caused the hard right turn toward the supporting pier. 4. The Dali ran directly into the pier.
