Acne myth: it will go away once your an adult. Or because you aren't eating healthy. I eat a mostly plant based diet with mostly actual vegetables. Not many process foods cross my lips. And if they do I don't get a spike. The only thing that seems to spike mine is gin or chocolate (yes, even dark chocolate that is dairy free.. I know, sad...)

The myth that i’ve heard from most of dermatologists who i’ve visited is that diet and digestion have very little to do with acne.

I’ve been told that it will go away with age. Definitely hasn’t for me!

A myth I was told about acne is that rubbing alcohol is good for your face! When I was younger I used it and it dried my face out so much. So glad I’ve come a long way in taking care of my skin. Wish I had learned earlier though.

A myth I was told about acne was that saliva can cure acne, and that chocolate causes acne. I had acne since I was in second grade, and it’s sucked. I’m a very superstitious person, and I believe I got acne cause I made fun of my neighbors acne. This was during second grade and during this time I began to get acne even though I hadn’t hit puberty. My acne was worse than my neighbors and till this day I regret making fun of her. Also this guy in my 6th grade class always teased me and called me acne face. Karma bit him in the ass and he has terrible acne just like me. 😶

I was told that junk food and chocolate gives you acne well, I worked at McDonald’s for over a year and ate there everyday and never got a zit. It was after I quit that job where I broke out a bit lol

Ive been told that there is something overall wrong with me for having acne and acne scars. Like ive never been more embarrassed and it was my boyfriend who told me that because i showed him what i looked like without makeup and i trusted him and he basically told me that i was gross and he was disgusted and broke up with me. I know now that there is nothing wrong with me. And also that if i dont pick it it will not leave a scar . that is false for me i do still get a scar even if i dont pick it just heals faster .

I've been told by my dermatologist and many other doctors that taking birth control would help my acne... it didn't make it better but it also hasn't gotten worse, so definetly a myth!

Btw I would really appreciate winning this giveaway, I wanted to give banish a try for so so long!!!

Wow. The "just stop worrying about it" really resonated with me. Another myth (or maybe not a myth, but a common suggestion) I would get is "you should see a dermatologist". I literally saw 6 dermatologists within a year and despite extensive research into their reputation, I have yet to find a dermatologist that takes the time to sit down and try to understand the whole picture. Any progress I have made cannot be credited to my derm, but to my own research into products and to the acne community!

Biggest myth I’m always told about acne — your stress is causing it! You need to relax and stop worrying about it so much. I do know acne can be caused by stress in some cases but I’ve never been one to stress or be anxious about anything! :)

People would always tell me to wash my face all the time because of my acne. They would also tell me to try all sorts of different cleansers and toners but it felt like it was to harsh for my skin!

Something that I've been told about acne is, I have visited to the dermatologist since high school and they say that do not squeeze pimples because it caused of the scars. And i don't believe it because I never ever squeeze my pimples, acne, breakouts, or whatever it calls but it still appears acne scars. I never squeeze my pimples, because I'm not a hygienic person especially my nails (i always forgot to cut the nails) and I've been told too that if you're not hygienic, it caused more acne. My cousin has more acne than me, and she likes to squeeze her pimples BUUUTT there are no scars in her face. I envy her!
Soo, that is the one of acne myths that I never believe it.

that eating too much chocolate will give me acne and that all I need to get rid of it is to scrub my face with sugar and lemon juice everyday!! (good thing I never did..)

One myth that I was told was that moisturizer causes acne because i'm making my skin even oilier, therefore causing acne. But man the lack of moisturizer for my skin was really irritating my skin. Until I just gave moisturizer a shot and never looked back. Hydrated skin, is beautiful skin, and balanced skin!
