The stakes on the mat are high, but for these cheerleaders, the only thing more brutal than their workouts and more exceptional than their performances are the stories of adversity and triumph behind the athletes themselves.

From the team behind Last Chance U, Netflix’s new documentary series "Cheer" follows the competitive cheerleaders of the 14-time National Championship winning team at Navarro College in Corsicana, TX.

Over the course of six episodes join the team members as they face injuries, sacrifice, personal setbacks and triumphs, all leading up to one nail-biting and adrenaline pumping final competition at the National Championship.

Cheer premieres on January 8, only on Netflix.

“You keep going until you get it right. And then you keep going until you can’t get it wrong.”

I really love how this series kills to negative stereotype attached to being a cheerleader. I think this sport should go international and possibly, the olympics and other big competitions!

Just binged watch the whole series even though I didn't have the slightest interest. But it was so good, the stories of these kids, how hard they train and it was not just beautiful but inspiring. Hope Lexi got another chance. Morgan & Jerry such beautiful people.

Cheerleading saved my daughter from anxiety and panic attacks. It has been 5 years and no medication needed. Cheerleading is her passion. Thanks Netflix for this documentary.

i was one of those people that didn’t understand cheerleading beyond the pep rally/ bring it on stereotypes. but i sat down to watch Cheer one night out of boredom, and was instantly hooked. Now.. i’ll fight someone that says cheerleading isn’t a sport.

As a former cheerleader, I can appreciate this because everyone thinks it’s easy. I still say it’s one of the toughest sports out there. 💜

This was a great documentary. I’m a cheerleader and I appreciate that this sport is getting the recognition that it deserves. Cheerleading is extremely hard, mentally and physically and a lot of people don’t realize that.
