What set Madeline case apart was because they were doctors and so irresponsible to leave the kids alone.

I think my first instincts on finding Maddie missing would have been to start calling her name in the hope she'd managed to get outside (probably to look for her parents). The fact that Kate ran back to the restaurant screaming "they've taken her" doesn't really make sense.
To this day, I cannot understand why the parents have never been charged with, at the very least, neglect.

Never felt this was an abduction, always believed the cadaver dogs. The portuguese police should at the time held all of them under arrest until their own investigation was completed.

The fact that these two still haven’t been charged with anything still makes my blood boil to this day. If the parents had been unemployed and on benefits they would still be rotting in jail

Kate McCann never let 'cuddle cat' out of her sight after that night, she then machine washed it. No mother would do that, ever. You would keep that as a part of your missing child forever.

when I was nursing in the 60's it was quite normal for doctors to sedate their kiddies if they were having a dinner party. I was appalled then and am still appalled now

Given they are suspected of sedating their children when they went out, they would have been accused of manslaughter, had Madeline died in the apartment in their absence. Given the twins didn't awake for hours, even in the midst of the screaming and chaos, it's probably they were sedated as well.... allegedly.

What is wrong with a babysitter. I was a single mum. Went on holiday with my six year old to spain. Never let him out of my sight for a single second. Went to bed early every night and we still had a lovely holiday

I'm not a UK taxpayer. But if I was, I'd be deeply angered by the public money spent on this case. There were too many inconsistencies right from the start and the parents' behaviour was deeply troubling.

As a Portuguese who has spent
holidays in Luz Club many times, I totally agree it was a cover-up ordered by the Brits. Our excellent chief investigator Gonçalo Amaral was told to retire after 27 years of immaculate investigative carreer and went on to write a very good book about this case. The whole country was appalled at Maddie's parents neglect. This investigation should resume and the parents charged to the full extent of the Law. The Club has baby-sitting services and they didn't even bother with that. No parent in Portugal leaves young children alone to go boozing with friends, no matter what social class they are. This behaviour is appalling.

They definitely did it. She was not abducted. Any other parent would have been arrested for child neglect. They could afford to have a babysitter.

I never liked the fact they drugged the child so they could have a good time with friends.
I just hope we one day find out what happened.

My problem with this case is the total absence of any evidence of an intruder.

A parent would immediately call for the police if their daughter had fallen and hurt herself … the only reason to hide the body would be to hide a murder or a sexual assault.

These two parents neglected their children to a point they should have been prosecuted, they did their best to gain sympathy from the public visiting the pope and other high profile people, who in the name of goodness leaves their children alone especially in a foreign country that the children don’t know the language, I personally agree with the Portuguese police and have done so since day one
