It is the inversion of double slider mechanism it is the first inversion where the slotted bar is fixed and in which the link 2 is given an input oscillation (rocker) and think 3 is the connecting rod and thus result in the output as the oscillation (rocker) in which the shape of both the oscillation in the fixed slotted bar results in the elliptical shape it is a rocker rocker mechanism and if you consider any point on the link 3 such as p you will get an ellipse for the locus of the P. There are some special cases where you can see the beauty of this mechanism in which if you consider an point on any one of the slider such as P then the locus of the Point is in straight line because the slider is reciprocating right so it will give a straight line and any other point you consider other than considering on the slider you will get the locus of that point as ellipse for sure. In another very interesting case if you consider a point in the center position of the connecting rod as P then the point locus will be a circle because the connecting rod center point of reference will make a locus of circle and in case of the center it is 0, 0 and radius it will be distance from P to the fixed point on the link 3.
