So the bottom of the cup is just a friction fit? That gives you a water tight fit for the life of the cup?

Excellent! First turning off bamboo I've seen.
Three questions:
don't you get fungus?
Doesn't the bamboo cup develop cracks at the nodes?
Don't you get the powder post beetle problem(they eat the bamboo and leave a powder behind)

can we use a mixer grinder instead of a lathe, as that is what we most have back at home :P
