The freeware (the ultra version) is my way to go. It has so many nice animations like trains etc. And I have kinda good fps so I love it.

Looking at your images, the freeware is so much more detailed and vivid. I have a mid range pc and never have issues using the freeware which runs nicely 👍

I use the freeware version and I must say I have never had an issue and it looks really good in VR.

As a former Gatwick employee of over 11 years, in the External Security Division, I know the airport well. I have reviewed both the Origami and the freeware version by MKVY on my channel. The Origami version is missing many significant parts that kind of symbolise Gatwick and I was in contact with the developer to offer my services to help with a possible update. Sadly, that came to nothing and so far I have seen no update to the original Origami release. In contrast, as you know, MKVY is continually working on Gatwick and his version is so much more realistic - from a pilots point of view and from my point of view having spent many hours driving around the ramp/airport environment on patrol - and whilst I'm not on the latest version (I have 9.9.9 installed whilst version 10 is out), I find no real issues coming into Gatwick under full VATSIM ATC.

However, I really do appreciate your situation. For me, the difference in frames is so minor that's its not really an issue. Frame loss between 2 and 5fps is not so bad when your mean framerate is around 25 to 30fps. The human eye sees movement at or around 24 frames per second mostly. But - CTD's *ARE* a big issue and if you are experiencing these then I fully sympathise with you. My PC is an i7-9900k with 32GB ram and my graphics card is the GeForce RTX 2080Ti with 11GB video ram - and Gatwick is quite smooth. But then I have taken time to ensure my graphics card is properly set up. But I agree, the Origami version is more than adequate for someone who is experiencing the issues you are having, even though it's not, in my opinion, as good as it could be if the developer gave a little more effort. Just my thoughts here. I hope you enjoy the version you finally opt for. Take care. Lee (VirtualAirlinePilot - callsign ViperJet)

Have both, similar mid range set up too.. I’ve stuck with the payware as it’s just so much more stable for me. More than happy with the quality of it too

I have a mid range PC and never have any problem with the freeware Full Ultra Edition and that's with the A3420NX, Live Weather and Full suite of AI traffic loaded. My tip for getting the best out of the freeware version is to ensure you allow a little time for the scenery to load fully before you jump into your aircraft or zoom around the airport in camera. I get no stutters, no hang ups and no CTDs.

I have the ultra version of the freeware, and I only have a 1660S and 16gb RAM. I have no issues or stutter with it. Works perfectly with the FBW A32nx.

Those posters below with issues... mkvy does recommend when updating, that you remove all remnants of previous versions, restart the sim with the default to remove anything from cache, before installing any new versions into the Community folder. If like me, you simply install over the top, it may be prudent to follow his advice and report back. Good luck.

I have not tried the payware EGKK. I love the free Ultra EGKK, FPS does take a hit on my aging gaming laptop but the detail and accuracy makes it worthwile for me.

I stick with the freeware version. I get a bit of stutter and FPS drop when I first load but after I pan around externally for a few seconds it all calms down and FPS go back to normal. I uninstalled the payware version as I use AI Live traffic/AIG and you have aircraft landing and taking off from 8L and 26R which is only used as a taxi way with 8R and 26L being the main runway. You are also directed to these if you use ATC. I have seen on other forums this is a developer issue not an Asobo one. I have an i9, 2080 Super and 32GB.

I've got a pretty high end pc and always seem to struggle with performance at Gatwick and Heathrow. I've stopped using larger hubs and go for smaller airports really.

Inibuilds / origami’s EGKK uses 08L/ 26r as active all the time. This isn’t true irl ! I know I work there. Need to fix, it’s annoying. Freeware issue: when lineup and wait and then look right there’s a major lag ( this is with a GTX1080 x16 2400ghz ddr4 ram, Samsung evo 8 series SSD and i7 8700

I had constant ctd with the freeware gatwick straight after wu8 but just recently went back there and seems to be ok now? (touch wood). Anyone have problems coming into Dublin airport? Crashes on final approach every time for me.
