Lake Apopka Boat Tour! A Rare Chance To Learn About Florida's 4th Largest Lake!

Quinn and I were able to do a special, one day only boat tour of Lake Apopka last weekend (September 24th, 2022)! This tour was offered through the Oakland Nature Preserve, in Oakland, Florida and from the Rusty Anchor Boat Tours (which are in Mount Dora, FL). This lake is currently undergoing a long restoration process. It was heavy polluted and also had a toxic algae bloom outbreak. It used to be a popular fishing destination for the rich and famous. Apparently back in the day Al Capone and Clark Gable were amongst the celebrities who fished there.

We weren't able to see the Blue Spring, since is was a bit windy out. But it was a fun, information tour and Quinn even got to drive the boat! He loved that!!
