The cost to develop was high? No, this technology has been around on electric golf carts for decades. There's nothing special going on with this machine.

Now, if they were to have 100hp electric motors and armored/waterproof lithium ion cells in a RZR, that would be some development cost.

All this information and NOT ONE indication of the voltage levels required to operate the vehicle within specifications for distance of travel, towing capability, length of time for charging etc., etc. -

These things are ideal for property owners who just want a reliable way to go out and do repair work around the place. Fence work and inspection. Also, very compatible with livestock. And you don't handle gasoline. If you're interested in eventually dealing with cancer, then keep handling and smelling gasoline and other chemicals like that. But I'm getting ready to retire and have about 650 acres to ride around on regularly and keep an eye on. I can't think of anything better than an EV UTV for the job. My brother has a gas powered one and it is great, but as far as I'm concerned, the EV version will handle the job fine, and not increase my chemical exposure in the process.

Lead-acid batteries? Should get more interesting once they start using lithium-ion batteries with good capacity...

There is a 2017 POLARIS RANGER EV LI-ION version of these. It's almost double the cost and has a stated 50 mile range.

The vaguest reviews I've ever seen. Give us specs and your opinion on how it handles not your opinion on their marketing decisions.

I thought you were actually going to review this machine

1:11 Cost to develop the ranger were high? Why? Lead acid batteries like a golf cart, 30 hp brush-less motor which has been used in a bazillion vehicles like my M-iev car. I would say it would take less then a month to put something together.

Agree with @stevey, the cost to develop and build this was very little, actually it's probably cheaper to build than a gas model. If this unit would be upgraded to lithium batteries of the same size, the unit would be lighter, half the weight in batteries, and it would go twice as far. Or use half the amount of batteries and go the same distance.

Weird review - very specific usage implied, going miles off into the wilderness. That must be fairly unusual - the most common usage is surely on a farm, large or small, where quickly getting to regular chores with feed etc is the day-to-day usage, where the low maintenence, easy recharge integration (between chores) and relatively low mileage - and the relative quietness around livestock - make an EV ideal. Especially when farms by nature are ideal places to have solar and wind electricity provision. It's future-proof.

The question is how many miles can you go on a full charge that’s all I want to know.

What is the life span of the batteries. What is the cost to replace the batteries?

I'm surprised to hear that it was a sales success. 4 years after this video was made, and I've never seen one. Not even on a showroom floor.

Really love the idea of this side by side, with its only limitations being battery going dead, polaris should build a small very quiet gas generator that attaches inside the back bed that would kick on and off only when needed.

Автор

love the ranger ev but could you drive it back home when the battery is dead using a harbor freight generator?

Not sure why everyone likes to bash Polaris? Maybe because they are the market leader by far? I own a Kawasaki and Polaris has a much smoother ride.

Or for a small farm, homestead or small holding. Any offgrid property would benefit too. I want one when i start my farm

Go lithium-ion and make the roof a solar panel!

Quiet exhaust? I’m thinking NO exhaust.
