There is only one thing I like better about the Garmin: My Wahoo takes ages to start up.

Sounds like outside of the castle in super Mario 64

Just got the non solar model 840. I like the form factor much better than the 1040 (returned), more compact. Needed this for dI2 control and visuals. Pairs quickly with Rally RS200 power pedals, Garmin 515 Radar. speed sensor. Using along with a Karoo2. Like the Karoo screen better but no dI2. Garmin connects quickly to wi-fi. This was somewhat pricey but I think I'm going to enjoin using it. Very easy to add and customize screens.

I don't get why they are not using MIP displays for their edge units but these glossy mirrors..

It was all about the wahoo during the Garmin 520/820/1020 era. When Garmin was buggy and unreliable. They sorted that with the xx30 series and are now way ahead of wahoo with the xx40 series. Honest the battery being the hero feature. I charge my 1040 (non solar) twice a month.

Still in doubt between the 840 and 1040. Can't make up my mind.

I switched to the Garmin 840 three days ago because my Wahoo started recording data poorly. I had replaced my Wahoo Roam ( 3 times ). 1. The Garmin reads sensor faster. 2. It pulls data more frequently- ( I felt my power data was not recorded correctly) 3. After you ride, it syncs faster to 3rd party apps - strava/traininingpeaks, etc. I would recommend it to anyone who is done paying the " Wahoo Tax is poor data."

I mean if you don’t want it I’ll have it, love Garmin but they are way out of my budget. Love the channel.

Is the 530 still a good option? Looking at upgrading from my bryton and the 540/840 are $$$

Just got the 540!! They have better outdoor visibility and battery life than other brands. That’s their main advantage imo.

Why them bezels so big 😮. Screen to body ratio needs to be improved… you shouldn’t need the 1040 to increase viewable area… but guess I’ll need to stick to my 830 for another 4 years 😅

I gave up on Garmin after owning the 810 and 820 for years. Flaky software and random connection issues drove me mad. Wahoo Roam has been rock solid by comparison. I won’t say that I won’t give Garmin another go one day but it’ll take some convincing.

Good quality unit but wow the GUI is so poor. It’s not very intuitive.

Love this unit. Climb pro needs to be able to turn notifications off. It’s SO ANNOYING!

If you're a MTB, maybe yes. If roadie. Wahoo Bolt 2 is a much better choice. Not so many bugs, it just works.

Touch screen for bike riding? No thanks, I’m going with Wahoo.

Don’t. You
Can’t read anything on the unit. Go for the bigger one

youd be better off with a heavilty discounted 1030 plus, far better value for money..picked mine up for 299

The previous Garmin head unit works well and I've never had an issue, the only people I've ever seen use Wahoo is GCN and yourself...of all my cycling friends, no one uses a Wahoo
