Translating as 'goodbye beautiful', Bella Ciao originated as a protest song in 19th-century Italy, and later became widespread as a song of liberation and resistance to tyrrany. In 2017, Bella Ciao enjoyed renewed popularity after being featured in the Spanish series Money Heist (La casa de papel). The melody of Bella Ciao is used in sporting chants for football teams including: Cosenza Calcio, A.S. Livorno, A.E.K., Portland Timbers, Atlanta United FC, Motherwell, Aris Thessaloniki, Panathinaikos FC, and FC Zürich.
