Architecture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: An Introduction to AI for Architects

What is AI? And why has it become such a hot topic in architectural design circles? This lecture offers an introduction to the use of neural networks in architecture, arguably the first genuinely C21st design technique, and is illustrated with some of the latest, stunning examples of AI generated design work. The lecture points out how astonishingly capable AI is now becoming, and hints at the potential dark side of AI, as it begins to displace architects. The lecture is based on material from the recently published, Architecture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: An Introduction to AI for Architects, and the forthcoming issue of AD, Machine Hallucinations: Architecture and Artificial Intelligence.
