HEAVY rainfall caused deadly landslides and flooding in Petropolis, Brazil, on Tuesday, February 15.
Minister Rogério Marinho confirmed at least six people were killed and at more than 52 landslides were registered after heavy rains dumped around 200 mm, or nearly 8 inches, of water on Petropolis in just four hours.
Globo reported a state of disaster was declared by local authorities on Tuesday.
Videos filmed by Bia Forster show part of a landslide that took out trees and at least one hillside building, as well as a river of water washing debris, foliage and vehicles down the street outside her home.
