Totally agree !!...I have tried off and on with a pick and it doesn't work...I play songs just fine with thumb only. I tried to step- back and honestly compare the sounds and it's "different" but in my opinion more mellow, easy to listen to and a lot easier to play....For volume I simply crank up the electronics

I wish I could use the edge of the nail on my right index finger to strum the strings, unfortunately I no longer have a nail due to an accident in 1989. :-( So, I use a pick.
