UIM in Michigan is very misleading. Since Michigan is a no-fault state If you are hit by a uninsured driver in Michigan it makes no difference YOUR insurance pays it and then your rates go up even though it wasn't your fault. No fault in Michigan ONLY helps you if the accident is very serious and the self coverage you have isn't enough and then to get that you must prove it. UIM doesn't help you at all in Michigan if you do not get the other drivers information or they didn't have insurance. Misleading isn't it
