I worked for the company that published The Beano. Although there aren’t any newspapers or magazines printed there, that company still has an office located in Fleet Street. It’s named after the Fleet river which has its source on Hampstead Heath. By the time it was covered over it was a stinking sewer.

I worked at The Daily Telegraph in 1966 as a Post Boy, Weekly wage, £6.8s.9d with a cost of living allowance of 12s and 8d. Interesting place and people. Great days.

I used to get the Beano in the 1960s.. picked up a copy at a friends place the other week as it was his sins.. I was surprised that they were still running the same stories . they haven't made much new stuff since then.
