Summary :
1. The company was to continue the possession of territories when unless the parliament provided otherwise.
2. The strength of the court of directors was reduced to 18
3. Functions of the governor-general council were separated into – Legislative and Executive Functions.
4. Open competition for civil services was to be conducted. Macaulay committee was constituted for this purpose in 1854
6. For the 1st time local representation was introduced in the Indian Legislature. Legislative functions were performed by the Indian legislative council. 4 out of 6 members were nominated in the legislative councils by the local government of Madras, Bombay, Bengal and Agra.
7. The law member became the full member of the Governor-general executive council
