The Thunder scored first with a 5-yard touchdown run from Justin Stefani, starting the game strong. Momentum shifted in the second quarter when Tyson Terreros stripped Buhach Colony running back Roy Gutierrez for a huge fumble that Serra would recover.
With Serra quarterback Matt Fa'aita leaving the game with a shoulder injury, senior backup Anthony Smock stepped in and never looked back. Smock completed 10-of-18 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Kava Cassidy caught one of those touchdowns which started out as a simple screen. Still down 7-6, Serra would punch in another score on the goal line with Cassidy and Smock would score on a 2-point conversion to give the Padres a 14-7 lead.
After that it was all downhill for Buhach Colony who gave up another 27 unanswered points. Smock's second touchdown was a perfect slant to sophomore wide receiver Brandon Monroe who went 68 yards to the end zone before halftime. Monroe finished the night with 3 catches and 119 yards.
Serra's ground game would take over in the second half as Cassidy and Kevin McGee (71 yards, 2 touchdowns) both scored. The Padres win with a final score of 48-15 and are now 2-1 with a tough WCAL opener against Bellarmine (3-0).

Coach walsh is all about politics. He upholds nothing that serra stands for as a school. Those kids won the the championship on talent alone. He holds kids back who are talented athletes and smart students as well. He doesnot care about you if you are good in the classroom. If you are a smart talented black athlete do not go to serra. He will not give you any exposure. He hides kids by doing things like taking tape off of the internet. And will never mintion your name to the top colleges. He is all politics not a man of his word. A man like him should never be allowed to coach hs football. Especially at a school as great as serra. Because like I said he goes aginst every single core value that the school stands for.
