The Doug and Pat Show compare Gibson ES 335's

preview_player
Показать описание
Doug and Pat take time out of their busy lives to compare four Gibson ES 335's ranging from 1959 to 2006. Per usual, a chock full of tone, wit and charm video journey into Gibson's highly successful ground breaking semi-hollow guitar. We crank the Vox AC 10 to 3 and take no prisoners.

By the way Pat...I bought my 1967 335 from you back in 1977 for $275. Best guitar I ever bought. Thanks man.

I never knew I needed an ES 335 until I just now watched your video - 26 May 2022. Sorry for being late to the party. Your content is great. Please keep releasing them.

Always a great show from Doug and Pat. 335s are the greatest electric guitars ever imho. Mine are 59 64 and 68 and all brilliant.

Those are some great sounding 335s. This episode inspired me to pick up mine, which is a 2009, and play it for the weekend.

Some of the best sounds are from underwound, un-potted alnico 2 pickups. Especially through semi hollow rigs.

Hey guys let's remember to demonstrate the sound of both pickups together.
A Deluxe Reverb would be a nice amp to hear the sound on.

Im having trouble dating my es. The serial code from Gibson's pdf download matches a 60 something(can't remember right now) but I've been told by a local guy here in WV that its probably a 71. It has the USA stamp, but the code matches 68. Any advice?

Just stumbled across this video of the mighty 335. I have an original '84 with Shaw PAFs, and it is just the most beautiful playing and sounding 335..sounds a lot like that '59. Good video thanks Doug and Pat.

Hey fantastic video!  Which is the first guitar your playing, it sounds awesome!  I love that overdrive sound?  Please tell me which Guitar is that and amp you are playing through.  Are you using an overdrive pedal?  Sorry if I am asking too many questions. Thank you.  I have an Epiphone Dot, but I know pickups are different.  Mine has an Alnico Classic in the Neck and an Alnico Classic Plus in the Bridge.  I was wondering if I upgrade my pickups to PAFs can I get the same sound.

Pat, your playing is fanastic on this video, the best i have heard so far... i loved the more vintage models, but they all sounded very good in your hands, and with that Vox.

Please do never buy a lighter to Pat, I love seing him trying to light those matches while you are trying to demonstrate gears :)

Love the show... please keep it going for a long time :)

PS: i would love to see you guys compare the 58 or 60 to replicas from high-end builders

Hi Doug and Pat - question for you - I have a Gibson custom memphis figured dot cherry 2013. How can I tell if it is a standard or a reissue or a traditional. I called Gibson and all the guy could tell me was it was a dot. How do I know what it is modelled after? It is great but what is it.

+The Doug and Pat Show I'm usually a strat guy that dabbles in ES land. I'm moving more to the ES land these days though and must say that the '59 you played was the best isolated guitar sound I've ever heard. All of the guitars sounded great, but that '59 wow! I dig the show, almost feels like I'm hanging out too. Keep up the good work.
