Thanks for the post! We’re doing Canal du MIDI next month on the Royal Mistique B. You’re video captures the boat quite nicely. Much appreciated!

The Canal du Midi is a fantastic place for a vacation. We spent two weeks there and it was perfect.
It was in spring, so it's not hot, but we did get sunburned ahhahaha we had the Roayl Mistique 1.

I like that you open the drawers on the cabinets. That oven looked like it was never used. I wouldn't be timid about talking over video instead of that irritating elevator music. With audio descriptions you could have said whether this was one of their newer boats and how big it was, whether the beds were comfortable, was the shower with hot water, how easy it was to cook for four people, whether the engine had a quick reverse, were the night-time moorings quiet, were the sheets clean, etc...

At least you got toilet paper! Our first and only trip with Le boat was on the Alsace in October 2004. It was cold and raining so of course the windshield wipers didn’t work and the heater just made a lot of noise but no heat. In the mornings your bedding was wet from condensation dripping from the roof. The prop was damaged so you had to deal with an awful vibration when moving. Luckily while In Saverne we discovered Nicols and now use them exclusively. Always friendly and helpful and the equipment is always top notch. I’m in no way affiliated with Nicols but I am an annual customer for the foreseeable future.

Toilet rolls are commercial size and not domestic, i have no idea how much you use but 5 pieces and then the bidet is about right, if you want to unroll a ball of it and use half of it then you need more, taking it to bed if you are alone also uses it up, if its for her poosy then you need buy a box of soft because toilet paper is abrasive and has 2 sides different.

I have done 5 month-long trips on the French canals. In my experience, the Burgundy area is much more appealing for canalling than the Midi. More scenic and cooler.

Maybe don’t visit France in the warmest months as well ? There are less crowds and sometimes things are cheaper.
