LDV D90 - Good and Bad after 3 Months of ownership

Time for another drive, and an honest 3 months ownership review of my LDV D90 (SAIC Maxus D90 / MG Gloster) at ~ 3800 KMS - all the truth, including the good and the bad impressions of a private owner.

While I'm still convinced that LDV D90 remains the BEST affordable and value for money large SUV in Australia in 2022, there are a few findings and CONFIRMED EARLIER SUSPICIONS that I've now had a chance to properly look at and experience in daily use and city driving.

Thankyou for a common persons review. I keep seeing comments across the board regards the cruise control suddenly turns off whilst driving. People have mentioned they get a very sudden drop in speed while on the freeway or highway. People say the electronics in the ldvs are not good and that the paint wear off very quickly. Your thought's on these matters.

Handy tip with the transmission, If you flick the transmission into sequential then back to drive while going down hill it will not limit the gears and just rolls insteadof using engine compression. My prado I had before the d90 did the same thing

The reason the engine raving up while descending from hills is to hold the speed without using brake, it’s called “engine brake”. The brake only makes noises when using Acc, when braking by pressing the brake pedal is perfectly fine. Happy driving 😊

Thank you for your reviews! Visited my local LDV dealer today and sat in a D90 base model for the first time - very impressed with the vehicle size, which is my main goal for the price on offer (not too fussed about engine performance etc).
Interestingly, the dealer said the Executive spec only has a 3 month wait time, I thought it would be longer.
Question - do you know if we can get the diesel front mesh grill on the petrol specs?

Hi Dimitri, another awesome video, wow your not wrong about how massive the car is, although your sitting very high up, and clearly see everything very well, in whats in front of you, i think i would struggle driving this car all day long, particularly how sydney roads are, not to mention tight parking spots lol, im taking a ldv diesel for a test drive tomorrow, they have a dealership in arncliffe, very close to where i live, value for money is unbelievable, keep those awesome videos coming, take care mate.

Got the D90 top model petrol 2wd. Seats 7 or 5 people with hesps of room and massive cargo bay. Very good value even for the lux top model with all possible extras. Drives on road like a landcruiser and 2 liter turbo turbo is decently efficient burning about 12 liters per 100 city and freeway mode using 95 ron petrol. Overtaking fully loaded at 110kmhr is effortless. Radio entertainment system is not very good as reception is a bit shit but its fine if you are not too fussy.

Although this is an d90 video what are your thoughts on the mg HS transmission reliability? thinking of purchasing 1.

Did you noticed any vibrations at high speed ? Floor vibration?

Can you turn off the adaptive cruise control or do you have to use it?

Engine braking due to transmission logic to stop freewheeling and speed increasing so holds lower gears and saves braking but transmission should only do this if lift off accelerator suddenly- its one thing I don’t like in some automatics - glad you’re enjoying the car and it’s meeting your needs - great value buy 🤘

Oh hose out brake dust from pads - pads will be fine just dust retention from new pads and euro cars usually much worse :)
