It reminds me of the one time when the interview was like “your English is good”
Felix “yeah I’m from Australia “😂

i think this is actually quite respectful because he genuinely hesitated to check her nametag which is more of persian origins before saying this, its a fair assumption and im glad that he was making enough effort to check if he was right

i think it's not interviewer fault cause her name is foreign and people get confused so it's no one fault

This interviewer did it respectfully, though. You can tell he was genuinely curious and surprised. It’s not like the mindless western interviews that are like “wow your English is amazing” and it’s literally an American or Canadian

she was probably asked that all the time in school and stuff 😭

Just realized that the hosts are idols from 1st gen idols. Ofc they asked hiyyih bcs not alot of mixed and foreign idols in their era debuted compare to recent generations.

They said all the foreign members in another interview and included her and she just went along with it

i feel like they were just curious about it, not disrespecting her or anything

two things can be true at the same time: 1) it’s absolutely valid for Hiyyih to be tired of being asked this because it’s something she’s probably been asked over and over for years, and likely in less respectful ways than this; 2) her full name isn’t Korean (Huening is an English or German name and Bahiyyih is Persian) and so it’s not malicious for anyone to incorrectly assume she isn’t Korean, as long as they are respectful in how they treat and interact with her, like this interviewer was.

you can tell how tired she is of having to explain this all the time and i don’t blame her

I love how respectful he was most western interviewers say “Oh your English is so good” which ik is kinda the same as saying “Your Korean is so good” but it depends on how you say it

I heard "Hello, I'm Huening Kai" 😅

This is the same as that time Johnny was told his English was good and he was like "...I'm from Chicago" 🤣

He didnt do wrong. Cuz that is the point of interview. He might know the info about their guest. But if they didnt ask anything abt things that he already knew, so there would be no interview then😅 Many times interviewer act like they didnt know, so the guest star would answer the question. Sooo the viewer can get the info. Moreover, not all of the viewer is their fans. For example myself. If they didnt ask, I would not know. I would not know she had special background story. This interaction is still cute and respectfull. He asked her with good manner. He became the representation of us as nonfans viewer to ask her the same question that we curious about also.

Okay so like I can tell why people think Shes a foreigner and her name definitely isn't Korean but like she was literally BORN in Korea while both her older siblings were born in America.

To be fair, her face does look more european/caucasian than korean and the dyed blonde hair makes her look even less korean so you can see how hard it is to tell at first glance.
