Even though this is pay to win on paper, money in Payday 2 is so absolutely worthless that it doesn't even matter.

Well considering how it easy it is to farm cash, it’s really not that big of a problem for us regular edition owners.

Pretty much brand new player, but after watching the "Can I beat Payday 2 on launch version", this 20% would probably be a substantial time saver and be useful for changing builds frequently since doing so used to require spending cash.

This isn't that wild since it's not a PvP game and I haven't seen any leaderboards in the game. This is essentially a generous xp boost consumable (most battlepass/leveling games typically have this) that never runs out. The scope and power creep of heists have deflated alot of the upgrades from my perspective.

What would be useful, but gross, is 20% off on all future REAL money purchases. Add an in-game cash shop on top of dlc's. It'd seem like a no brainer to pre-order, but you make this special edition have a hefty buy-in of like $160 to $200 with some "physical collectibles".

To start benefiting from this purchase, buyers would then have to keep buying post launch content until the savings equal ~$100 (So Collector's need to spend $400 in mtx, which would cost $500 for the standard player.)

lol i'm surprised you didn't notice. i've noticed forever since the discount makes all of the numbers super ugly lol. it used to be really nice back when buying your skills was a major expense and money was a problem, but now it just makes all the values awkward looking since money is irrelevent. really, everything could be free and it wouldn't make a difference lol.

" No way that would fly nowadays"

Mate there is way worse stuff going on than a 20% discount with earnable ingame currency.

You say it wouldn't fly in today, but I honestly don't see this being overly game breaking. If anything, they balanced it to where even yourself didn't realize that it was a thing

Paydays been in its own lane. Like how payday 2 on pc feels like payday 3 compared to the console editions

If by "pay 2 win" you mean "makes almost no functional difference at any point" then yes this is a pay2win issue

ahh, 2013, back when every game needed some weird exclusive pre order bonus.

now it's just paying for beta testing or getting the first battlepass season for free lol

I always thought this was related to infamy levels or pc play, it's cool to finally know!

I got the special version with the sweet tooth mask back in the day. My ps3 messed up and I just threw it away not thinking about it. I miss that drip daily lmao

Honestly it's not game breaking, nor is it super hard to make money. Giving a permanent discount to fans who got a specific edition is a cool thing to do. I don't have it, but I'm not mad I don't. It's cool seeing something other than cosmetics or a temporary boon for early game that is no good later on. Some heists from the broker can get pretty pricey.
