Live this review, your tales are great! I think the last fantasy series I read that got politics down pat was the Mistborn trilogy- especially the second book. The Lies of Locke Lampra tried something similar in their third instalment and I didn’t love it- but this one was done so well.

Personally, I think what makes the politics so engaging are how Ali is a human example of the various loyalties, beliefs, and values present play out. I found his internal conflict between his values and his family to be some of the strongest parts of the book.

I freaking love this series. It's got so much conflict and I never really knew who I should root for because all the characters were so terrible at times! (except for Nahri, she's pretty chill throughout)

As someone who read the whole trilogy, i’m reeeally tempted to make some comments about future stuff, but i’ll refrain ^^ One thing though (SPOILERS), Nahri is in fact revealed to be a shafit by Ghassan at the end of the book, and this will affect her arc later on.

This is what I needed after just filming an emotion-filled video. I loved this video and the new visuals you added. I'm also so glad you enjoyed this book, I loved this book even though I couldn't continue with the series because I knew it would become to dark for me but that doesn't make the book any less great. I love how you analysed the book and that I could see your joy for the book throughout the video. Loved the charts and enjoyed this video! I read the first book ages ago and will make sure I get caught up if you do more videos! I might also suggest checking out An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir! It's been a while since I read the first couple of them as well, but there is a similar feel and some similar magical beings, although I could just be linking the feel of the books as I read them quite close together!
