I pull every week and VERY FEW hairs at a time. Pulling all hairs at once clearly causes her pain. Try pulling a few hairs at a time with your fingers over say fifteen minutes instead of pulling an entire mat out in a second while twisting a hemostat. My dogs don’t love getting the ear hair pulled but they don’t show such signs of stress. It has to be done: so do what you have to do in the least painful way by pulling a few at a time-very often, instead of letting the hair mat and then pullling it all your at once.

You are supposed to remove a little at a time instead of twisting a huge clump and causing so much pain to a pup.

This video was so helpful. I recently started grooming my dogs at home and I wasn’t sure how much hair was considered too much. You showing the difference between a “clean” ear and a “hairy” one let me know when I need to pluck and when I don’t.

I’ve seen lots of videos like this and they don’t twist. Is there a reason?

Seen other videos like this and none of those other dogs cried! I could not finish watching- do better! Maybe watch others that do and learn from them without causing such pain to the dog

Christ you are making that so much more painful than this needs to be. If you just pluck small bits at a time instead of forcing all of the hair to be ripped out at once it won't be painful and they won't be squirming and crying in pain. You are teaching the dog to associate having anyone touch her ears with a lot of pain, and she won't cooperate in the future if you keep that up.

I’ve watched so many videos, hours and hours of videos, of dog grooming. I have a Havanese and groom her myself after watching all the videos I could find. NOT ONE dog groomer does the twisting that you do with this poor dog. Of course he doesn’t like his ears messed with…you probably taught him how painful it is from the time he was a puppy. Shame on you! Putting this video up for people who don’t know any better.

How can you torture that poor baby, by plucking the ears like that. How would you like having your ears cleaned so roughly.

It's refreshing that you don't automatically pluck the ear hair. Thank you for an informative vlog. 😊🇬🇧

THANK YOU! Stormy totally freaked out! Lol. I finally broke down and pulled some hair from my 6 month old Havi’s ear hair and he really didn’t seem to notice.

I just found your channel a week ago and love it. We bought a male Havanese puppy a month ago. He is cute as a button and the 2nd Havanese we have had. He is 3 1/2 months old, healthy, gaining weight but we have found that he is a blank slate. He was not exposed to a lot of experiences. Our main problem is getting him to Come to us when we have taken him out to potty, we praise him and pet him when he goes. But Finn is very stubborn and if he wants to run in an area he shouldn't be in he'll decide not to Come when we need him to, He is food driven & will come (most of the time) for treats but would prefer not to bribe him For his safety & our sanity he needs to listen. Any ideas?

Hello! I love your channel and I'm so happy that I found it! I have a 14 year old havi named Hana. She has always been a bit anxious, but still groomable. However, she is beginning to lose her eyesight and grooming has become so hard! Do you have any experience with senior havis with or without vision loss? If so, I would be very interested in seeing a video on how to accommodate their needs. But if not, that's ok, I am enjoying your videos so much already!
