Based on his early achievements, Aaron Burr Jr. should have become an obscure but respected figure in American history. An officer in the Continental Army, a high flying lawyer, and an influential politician, his career peak was becoming the third vice president in US history.
But after all these achievements, Burr's name is now associated with corruption and cruelty. He killed a man in an illegal duel while in office, and interest in that man, Alexander Hamilton, has revived Burr's reputation as one of history's villains. Gore Vidal wrote a biography on Aaron Burr. The title is 'Burr' and it is excellent!!! He was a very interesting and smart man.

The thing is Aaron Burr was way more than the monster you seem to be trying to paint him out to be. He was also an abolitionist back when slavery was completely legal in all states. He was a feminist when most WOMEN didn't believe they deserved rights. He raised his daughter with as much education as he would have son. And he claimed any child that a woman told him was his whether it was his or not. And would support them. When someone asked him about that he said it was the greatest honor to have a woman tell him that a child was his and he wasn't going to shirk that honor. Admittedly he had his flaws but every Founding Father had his flaws. I don't think he was any better or worse than Alexander Hamilton. They were both just men.
