Nissan Ariya NISMO - The best drivers EV so far ? | 4K

I am one of the first people outside of Nissan to drive the new Ariya NISMO and I got to drive it one one of the best roads in Japan. The Ariya NISMO in the first NISMO model to come to the UK for a while and has Nissan's learnings from Formula E all over it. More power, improved aero, performance Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres and all new springs and dampers.

I found the perfect road to put it through it's paces in the stunning hills of Japan at the foot on Mount Fuji !

I was surprised to read from Nissan press release that the Ariya Nismo for the EU market has 22 kW on board charging. Comparing with my Ariya Evolve (FWD), it only has 7.2 kW on board charging. 😢

What a car!! 😎 I think right at the top in terms of street cred. Great Video as always.

Seen more Ariya's on the road lately - looks really nice. Love the 'on it' concentration face at the start of the video. I'm not sure we're missing out by not having the noise. I think the Ionic 5N has changed the game with respect to augmented car sounds.

Will be interesting to compare to my Ioniq 5 N (which just arrived). Ariya colour looks good. But I’m not sure they’ve done enough to the Nismo. No real suspension or brake changes. Stiffened up the body? I do like paddle shifts on an EV for brake regen adjustment. No HUD, adjustable suspension or cooled seats on Nismo? Will be good to compare with N on UK roads. Good, fair review. What’s the price?

Cool review buddy, looks like a real good car for our market in the UK. These EV's are just getting better and better

The first time my plane dropped out of the clouds over Japan...my heart was in my throat, and I nearly wept at the sight of Mt. Fuji!
What a simply gorgeous place, Japan! Hope you enjoyed it at least as much as I did.
This is a nice car. You make it look fun to drive, too. I imagine the range is WELL over the range of Nissan's first-gen Leaf. Nothing to whinge about here...which is unusual, nowadays! Aloha and continued safe travels to you!

Have to say Pete the roads in Japan are so well engineered and upkept made for driving. Not sure it would tempt me but seem to be a very competent car. Also great that you commented on the breaking aspect rather than washed over it.

Well judging from the first 3 comments. The Ariya is a “chick magnet”. 😂

A car with any decent level of performance is totally wasted here in central Scotland as all my local roads are heavily potholed, which makes for slow driving and continuous steering corrections to avoid crashing into them.

I'm afraid you won't be able. To have much fun on our roads

I wonder if we will get this Nismo in North America? 2:16

Ariya's proportions make it look like brick and I think larger and taller, than is actually is. This is detrimental to convincing a performance minded driver would even want to consider this car. Maybe it needs slamming and fender flares to hint that it's not a fridge.

Nissan, and the Japanese car industry in general need to really, really, REALLY up their game.

Hyundai has the Ionic 5N and 6N, but don't offer a performance SUV yet. I like it that Nissan come with a less powerful car compared to the 650 hp Ionic which in my opinion would be rediculous in a SUV such as the Ariya. It's still a 100hp more than Cupra Born (more than enough power) & Tavascan VZ and VW offers in their 340pk ID GTX. In the end it's all about the performance. I hope this Ariya Nismo will be priced reasonably and a few grand under the pricetag of the Hyundai 5 and 6N, otherwise it will probably still become a hard seller.

A good-looking car & plenty of go about it! Might be tempted once a few hit the used car mkt! You can leave the sounds in Japan maybe they will add others in time!

"it really didn't have the performance or the kind of driver oriented characteristics that I look for in a car". How strange for a 2 ton SUV! I just don't get why people want sports car handling and performance from chunky SUVs. I have an Ariya....but if I wanted a "sporty" car I wouldn't have an SUV.

For the record I owned all EV from Hyundai and PHEV would never own one again. Terrible quality and reliability and dealer experience is sub par. Nissan is more reliable and way better quality and interior space. This vehicle is a solid 10/10.

Cost ? Most will be leased so wait 3 years and buy one half price or less. Tyres will not be cheap. Personally I would buy the Hyundai or a used Taycan. Speed in EV's isn't needed as you will eat tyres and get bored of looking like a knob racing people off the lights. Its range we need but they can't get much better than 100 kwh packs due to weight. Smaller pack with faster charging I think is what we need.
