This one has defeated all other fuzzes for me for practical live use with a band. The Body control really allows you to keep the texture while getting rid of the some of the woof that can make a fuzzed sound hard to hear in a band context. It's had a lot of challengers, but I keep coming back to this one. Plays equally-well with both single coils and humbuckers, too.

The Ramble FX Twin Bender has a killer 1.5 circuit along with a Mk.2, the former being very similar to the FF.
It's the best 1.5 I've heard to date.
Basic Audio build a lot of excellent, classic fuzzes, and remain largely unknown.
The Zvex Fat Fuzz Factory is more fun than most can handle, but very temperamental.

sounds great! i really like germanium ff but no 2 sound the same ever thanks to the nature of germanium.

If you have the time to do this. The best fuzz is the one you built yourself. They are simple circuits and without too much study you can learn what component values effect the sound. All the compoments are dirt cheap. You can experiment until you have it the way you want. For example the value of the input capacitor will effect the amount of low end that hits the transistors which has a huge effect on fatness of the fuzz distortion.
