hello, comparing the kate and maddy word problem to the myha and liam one, i am confused as to why kate and maddy’s was x and x+12 but myha and liam’s was x and x-10. what makes it so that it’s x-10 and not x+10? and in general how would you know whether to subtract or add in these cases? thank you!

The other word problem of Kate and Maddy where we got values of X=-72 and X=60
And you said that Maddy travels 60km/hr and Kate travels 72km/hr
For me I don't agree with you, because I don't think that Kate traveled with a negative speed ...


But instead I thought that we could use the value of X, to get the speeds Kate and Maddy by subtitling X to their speed equations, thank you
