Excess hiring and insane salaries post COVID is what has led to this situation with layoffs

People on here saying "it's not AI" are not looking for work and are not dealing with AI recruiters or job cuts due to automation. It's not all AI but it is a factor. Lots of data on this other than this channel. My previous employer has cut 5% of their job force due to a bad buyout and bad decisions from a business perspective.

AI engineers are getting fired too. The real problem is consumers maxing out their credit

This is an embarrassingly bad analysis. Google still hires engineers based on knowledge on algorithms, data structures, and core programming language skill. Same as they did five years ago, same as they did 10.

They are not laying off due to “outdated technologies“ lol. What outdated technologies, please list one.

Cnbc, please get better analysts on your show.

Engineering, especially tech is one of the most unstable careers. Very short shelf life for most. Better off being insurance sales, medical profession, CPA/Tax Attorney, etc.

It should give anyone pause putting all your eggs in the tech basket careerwise.

Tbh software engineers at big tech companies gained an absurd amount of money for which you could get multiples (up to 10x) of SEs in other countries doing 1:1 the same job. Sooner or later you can’t pay all the crazy salaries anymore.

I do think the tech industry is still leveling out after COVID but I do think the market is different more than ever.

I think we are another generation away where AI will be a REAL factor in not hiring a lot of SWE due to build tools. However, tech is advancing more and more, who knows fr

They will need alot less people in the future because A.I. will enable each person to do more faster. And as A.I. evolves even less people will be needed. People will just slow down A.I. Things are going to change so fast over the next 2 years. In 2 years there could easily be a Robot's in peoples homes doing house work.
