I agree wholeheartedly with you. Davy Jones is the best villain in the franchise to date, who knows what the future holds. But he is so well developed and layered, you cannot simply say he is evil like other movie villains. His story is tragedy essentially starting from what everyone faces in life, loving someone who could stomp out your heart. Relating to a character, even a villain, is what makes them so much better, that is why people love Thanos, Davy Jones, variations of the Joker, but if you get poorly written characters like Salazar, the villain feels lacking. Hence my previous comment when seeing that trailer like to Pirates 5, I had such high hopes that part of his hatred for pirates was due to Davy Jones never ferrying him or his crew from the Devil's triangle, that could've started an epic clash between him, Will and Jack as each caused Salazar his troubles from the beginning to. I hope if there is a Pirates 6 and they utilize Davy Jones, it is treated with respect or just hopefully he is a cursed vision that follows Will

The thing about Beckett is he's not physically imposing he's not a physical threat but he's coming he's intelligent he knows that he is weaker.
He knows that any one of those pirates could easily best him in combat so rather than fight he uses his intelligence to outsmart and drive the pirates into basically Extinction up until he's killed.
Jones on the other hand is the most existential/physical threat, Jones is the devil of the sea he is the ghost stories you tell your children he is a true legend.
He's immortal unless you can stab his heart, is practically a demigod with absolute control over the sea with Calypso gone, even if you die you can't escape him because he is also the ferryman of souls and because he's not doing his duty you'll just be stuck in eternal purgatory so basically he's the ultimate threat.

Davy Jones is such an amazing villain, in both design, backstory, depth, and personality, that not only is he my favorite antagonist of the Pirates franchise, but he is my favorite *character* of all time. He's only been in two movies, and yet he is held in such high regard, often being ranked hand in hand with some of the greatest villains of all time like Darth Vader (many even refer to him as the "Darth Vader of the Seven Seas"). Really, my only issue with the character is that his story never got any closure. His heart was stabbed, he called to Calypso one last time before falling into the Maelstrom, and that's it. We're never shown or told if he reunited with Calypso and was finally at peace or not (The official video game for At World's End seems to confirm it, though).

Another thing that makes Davy Jones to be a terrific villain is that he succeeds in being something that a lot of Disney Villains fail at doing; being legendarily cruel. Davy Jones takes pleasure in tormenting his victims by having them suffer the worst way possible under the circumstance; one way by having Bootstrap Bill flog his only child right after meeting him since he was a child and then forced him to watch as Will was supposedly killed by the Kraken, and when Governor Swann attempted to avenge Elizabeth's supposed death by stabbing the heart, Jones taunts him by saying in doing so, he would become the very monster who killed his daughter, and he would be bound to serve as Beckett's slave just as Jones was doing. In a deleted scene during the dice game, he says he only gambles on what is dearest to a man's heart; which means there's a chance you'd lose that which is most precious to you. And if you died at sea and Jones claimed you, you were sent to the Locker; an area in the Underworld reserved for eternal punishment. And yet, he's willing to make a deal to end your suffering in exchange for helping him get something he wants. They basically made Davy Jones out to be the devil of the sea. Davy Jones is cunning, manipulative, and cruel. And he definitely makes it in my top ten favorite villains.

Alex, just a suggestion but you need to check out the Pirates 5 Redone Fanfiction by Spentlizard. Although sometimes awkwardly written and Jack being a little out of character at some points it is 100% a better story than 5 itself. All the new characters are utilized much better, Salazar's motive is strong and the Og crew is back (Cotton, Pintel, etc) The way it's written gives you a clear picture of what is happening and it is honestly the Infinity War/ Endgame Climax I wanted 5 to be.
Edit: The best way to describe the writing is as the uncut script of the film.

Davy Jones is the most well written villain in any Disney franchise if not all cinema. Syndrome from the Incredibles comes close. However, Jones has a backstory most people can relate to. Not everyone gets to meet their idol and be deeply disappointed, but let's face it, EVERYONE has been betrayed by a loved one. Some worse than others. The betrayal Jones felt was understandable. He sacrificed 10 years of his life and his freedom to serve Calypso... and she ghosted him. You almost feel sorry for him if he hadn't lashed out at the world in his sorrow and rage.

You’re favorite villain of all time whose not really a villain on you’re favorite movie franchise go figure. Lol He is kinda cool. Wonder what you thought of his boss in KH3? The few if not only Disney boss in that game. If they bring him back, it would just ruin him.

Honestly, I like that while he's powerful, his fighting style seemed much less advanced than the other characters, but he almost always for deathblows as opposed to anything else, unless he chooses to use his claw or crab leg to beat the opponent senseless.
