I have been in Raleigh all of my 54 years. I am retiring in 2 years. I am selling the house and getting out of here for a small town way away from Raleigh.

It seems that the entire northeast has moved to Raleigh and the Charlotte area. Both are way too congested for my taste anymore.

Gentrification is the reason.. snow birds, people from CA, FL people... if you move here don't push locals out by overpricing homes.

It's not just Raleigh. It's the entire Triangle area. I moved to Raleigh in 1995. I loved the place for many years. It got to be too much for me. I retired and moved out of state. It was a great move for me.

I moved to the area over 10 years ago. It is still an OK area but the cost of living is out of control. If I leave one day (which I have already contemplated) this will be why.

We’re in Burlington so quite far from Raleigh, but plenty of people here commute to the triangle area for work. The I-40/85 corridor out here has gotten so busy there’s an accident nearly every day on this section when that used to be a rare occurrence before. Growth is a good thing but when it’s too much for the infrastructure and the towns to keep up, it’s really not a good experience for anyone…

Born and raised here. Isn’t the same place it used to be. Prices are out of control. Traffic is unimaginable. If you had told me 10 years ago there would be a day where RALEIGH of all places was one of the biggest growing cities i’d laugh in your face. Growing up we had no identity here, lots of the students in my classes were from poor outside towns like Bunn or Rollsville that commuted in only for work/school, and the kids from Raleigh like myself were solidly lower-middle class. Nowadays, I see Teslas, Ferraris, riding down Six Forks & things that make me think I can’t believe how much money is moving to Raleigh. My parents got their house in North Raleigh for a whopping 200k, a very nice large house that is now worth north of 1.2 million in a neighborhood that has been totally gentrified.

Moved to Raleigh area 20 years ago and it's become a concrete jungle and Knightdale well it just became an extension of Raleigh. The surrounding small towns are following with the Ant colonies (new sub divisions) It's all about big corps and home contractors. So many homes going up quickly and $200, 000 overpriced if not more and people are complaining about their homes that only after a year they're falling apart. Rent in the past 4 years has gotten out of control. On the outskirts the crazy price gouging is insane. $1, 500 a month for a 40 year old ratchet mobile home. Mind you the rental expectations as income to be 3 times the rent and credit score over 650. I could see this for a nice apartment in Raleigh but not outside. A nice condo rental is around 2-3 thousand a month for a 2-3 bedroom.
It's a decent city but hopefully next year the prices will go down. If not I'm moving

The people from the north east coast are like a plague of locust wherever they descend. You’re getting hit from both directions. They’re coming directly there and they’re bouncing back from Florida. And the funniest part, actually saddest part, is they honestly think you’re lucky to have them move in. They really believe things will be better because they’re there. You know because Jersey Philly, New York are all such great areas filled with considerate people.

Wake Tech is one of the best options for inexpensive education for young adults who need to work while going to college. They can transfer to one of the state four year colleges to finish the last two. It’s. great place for working adults to up-skill and stay relevant for the competitive job market.

Astronomical growth increases the PRICE of houses NOT the Quality of houses you'll pay for a 150000 house - that's not a GOOD DEAL by any math

Been a resident of NC all my life. The sad part,
more people move here, the quicker a city is less desirable. Rural communities are use to a different slower lifestyle.

27 years in Raleigh not going anywhere. Hopefully the new Mayor - Janet will do a better job than the previous. When protesting, turns into rioting. Put them in jail instead of walking with them and saying there peaceful.

Whatever areas in NC aren't already overcrowded, are becoming overcrowded and fast. You mentioned that people want a more quiet lifestyle but even in the surrounding counties outside of Raleigh you can forget peace and quiet. If I could I would move the h*e*ll out of here.

NC has become a sell out to high prices and southern hospitality has been majorly lost in a lot of areas since the influx that started 8 years ago. Yall want livable income and housing, it isnt here and the job opportunity is farce with how picky employers are. Only reason its a perfect fit for a lot of people out of state is because some of yall are moving from places that are as expensive or more and think the prices here are ok and the state sees you as free money knowing you have a lot more for them. Same as Charlotte NC but I get the appeal but dont paint this picture like its the best thing in the entire world because its pushed others out because of how much they have catered to people coming in."They aren't fixing the problem and your promoting the problem"
