I remember the excitement of finally getting the sixth one and making Devastator. Good times! Still getting used to calling them G1 though: back then they were just called Transformers 😀.

When I think of combiners Devastator is always the first one that comes to mind. It's just so iconic. Absolutely marvelous showpiece!

For your Bonecrusher, I recommend thickening those loose parts with floor finish and if the access gloss bothers you, dab it up with paint-on varnish which you can get at your local hobby store

Oh boy, I remember I got all these at the same time. I felt so lucky! I have to give my Dad credit for knowing what to get and then finding them all. I think he had to search around a few different stores on a mini parent quest, but there they all were one day! I never let anyone else play with these, besides my Dad of course.

G1 constructicons can do a 360 spin in vehicle modes like hook and scavenger, unlike the modern versions.

I always wanted the Constructicons and the ability to make Devastator as a kid, sadly I only had the cement mixer and dump truck Decepticons as a young kid, sorry I can't remember their names, but if you asked me 30 years ago I could have spouted off the names of any and every Transformer. I didn't know anybody who had the whole Devastator set so I'm glad to finally be able to see this, I'll have to just live vicariously thru you. Maybe one day I'll get into collecting all the retro toys of my childhood when my finances are in order.

The Constructicons are the Decepticons' foremost designers, engineers and builders. They are also particularly notable for their status as the very first combining subgroup of Transformers. The individual members of the team are:

Scrapper, (usually) the leader, a modest but masterful designer - front-end loader.

Bonecrusher, a destructive berserker - bulldozer (and later front-end loader).

Scavenger, the materials detector with some major self-esteem issues - power shovel.

Mixmaster, a manic and somewhat crazed chemist - cement mixer.

Hook, a snobbishly perfectionist engineer - crane.

Long Haul, a hard-working transporter who longs to be on the battlefield - dump truck (and later crane).
