iPhone 16e vs Google Pixel 9a: The Winner is Obvious 👀

Google recently came out with the Pixel 9a, a mid-tier Android smartphone that rivals the iPhone 16e that Apple released earlier this year. We picked up a Pixel 9a to see how Google's lower-cost option compares to Apple's more affordable iPhone.

The Pixel 9a joins the flagship Pixel 9 and 9 Pro smartphones that Google released last year, much like Apple added the ‌iPhone 16e‌ to the iPhone 16 lineup. The Pixel 9a is priced starting at $499, so it's $100 cheaper than the $599 starting price of the ‌iPhone 16e‌.

I was thinking of upgrading from my 13 mini to the 16E. Then the price dropped and the lack of MagSafe, yikes. I switched to the Pixel 9a and I’m not looking back. If I need something that iOS has, I still have my iPad mini. Good enough for me.

As an Apple user who picked up a Pixel 9a to satisfy my inner tech nerd, I agree with everything Dan says here. The Pixel 9a is an absolute bargain of a phone that makes me reconsider my loyalty to Apple and spending so much on their products.

Apple's biggest grift was convincing hundreds of millions of people that different products can only work together if they're from the same brand. Absolutely false. I would much rather have three amazing products from three different brands rather than having one great product and two mediocre products from the same brand. No single brand can make the best phones, tablets, earbuds, smartwatches, laptops, smart-rings, smart-home stuff etc.

Pixels have supported unlocking secure apps with face unlock since the 8 series. They use the dual focus pixels to increase the data points to a degree that they pass the security metric.

THIS alone is a win. The iPhone here is exceptionally overpriced considering the SE was $629 for 128GB. I’m typically an iPhone user but I’ll 100% be getting a 9a.

I said it once, and I will say it again. Platform is the biggest driver of purchases. In some ways ecosystem is everything. Bottomline seems to be that there are not enough premium features on these budget phones, and that Apple priced their device too high.
