I was so impressed by Geoff Tate in "Silent Lucidity" we just had to bring another Queensryche song to the channel as quickly as possible. I did not expect this. What a stunning, awe inspiring voice in a much too short of a song!

Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Queensryche performing "Take Hold of the Flame” live in Tokyo.

I think all of us Metal Heads have been waiting for this, I still think this is one of the finest live vocal performances of all time, Tate in his prime was untouchable 💪😎🤘

Elizabeth: my mind is breaking, his voice is so impressive

Metal fans from the 80's: yes.

Geoff Tate has never gotten the mainstream respect he deserved. The period between 84 and about 93 he was supernatural. Those octave jumps you mentioned are kind of his trademark.

Its important to keep in mind, this is not a studio take, this is LIVE. No retakes or over dubs. THAT IS HIS VOICE!

Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Rob Halford (Judas Priest), and Geoff Tate (Queensryche) are affectionately known at The Three Tremors. It is more than earned.

This is such a great example of what Geoff was capable of in his prime.

"Eyes of a Stranger" would be my suggestion. Absolutely surreal vocal performance.

Chris DeGarmo is a criminally underrated vocalist himself. Range is outta this world!

When a trained Opera singers jaw drops hearing your voice you just killed it...

I said it on another video and I'll say it again - Not enough credit goes to Chris DeGarmo for all of his harmonies that he sings along with Geoff. And such an awesome guitarist to boot!

To make matters worse, this was the 12th song in the set. Tate was truly unstoppable at that time.

If you didnt see Tate in the 80's and early 90's, you missed the oportunity to witness one of the single greatest metal vocalists of all time. In his prime, he was untouchable. Even Dickinson or Halford could not touch Tate. Queensryche were so awesome live and sounded just like you are hearing them here....Legends🤟🤟🤟

I love seeing people's brains melt when Geoff hits that "children of the line after he's already melted their brains 3 other times earlier in the song :)

Their album "Operation Mindcrime" is one of the pinnacles of rock music. It's impossible to suggest a particular song as they are strung together exquisitely to tell a unique story. I know you can't do a video for an entire album. But, you should sit down with the lyrics and enjoy it in it's entirety. It was a literal life changer for me.

Definitely OPERATION MINDCRIME.
It is THE Metal Opera.

You're right about Chris DeGarmo. Probably one of the most underrated writers, guitarist and backing vocalist of that Era. One of the best in my opinion. So talented

When I was in my teens and twenties, this song made me feel like I could take-on the world!
I'm 56 now, and it still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. 🤟🤟🤟🤟

*Vocal Coach:* "OMG, that was amazing!"
*Queensryche fans:* "Hey, Hi there, Welcome to Geoff Tate."

Chris DeGarmo's backing vocals are so often overlooked. He's Queensryches Michael Anthony. A secret weapon. Like, look who he's doubling!

I saw someone comment recently that this song was an encore. The fact that he had the kind of vocal stamina to do this after already performing for ~2 hours is mind blowing.
