Over the course of her fearless career, extreme action specialist Elizabeth Streb has pushed the limits of the human body. She's jumped through broken glass, toppled from great heights and built gizmos to provide a boost along the way. Backed by footage of her work, Streb reflects on her lifelong quest to defy gravity and fly the only way a human can -- by mastering the landing.

This isn't flying, it is falling with style.

i don't want to upset whoever did this speech but the way she talks and shows is much more the dream of the impossible, which in turn our scientific minds question it. But I can't question in any way that this isn't art! Can our impossible dreams defy what we understand by logic? Can humans evolve into flying beings through trial and error over generations of people jumping, falling and looking vigorously to the sky? Elizabeth, through skeptic eyes, your art is crazy, mindless and disconected, but to the artistic world, this is a very nieche but amazing part! Don't stop, because there are dreamful people among us which still believe in defying our nature! Fly as nobody ever could Elizabeth! and thank you!

This is quite insightful. I guess what she's asking as to do, is redefine what flying would mean in terms of humanity. We may not have wings, but that slight brush across the air, that momentary freedom despite our inability to stay afloat, that may be 'human flight'.

What I learned from the occasional "happy accidents" that involved life threatening components...this is like any other form of success and begs to be learned from.
One of the most important of these lessons was that nurturing the composer in my mind durning those moments "stack the deck" for a successful outcome and the more of these successes made the gambles to "flying" become more of a "risk".

Namaste and Godspeed.

That explains the extreme sports and the changes in professional sports. Bigger limits, bigger results.

Falling does not defy gravity and is not flying.
Bungee jumping does not defy gravity and is not flying.
Hanging by a rope around your waist does not defy gravity and is not flying.
I thought TED was better than clickbaits.

Physics is one of the primary reasons we don’t fly

This individual is now telling us we can do it if we believe which means facts don’t mean anything reality is set aside it’s about achieving things without using science
Now it makes sense she’s a performance artist little wacky little strange I don’t understand why she’s on Ted
She seems to put her own name in the same sentence with newton very telling

*Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.*

If you came to see someone fly then you will be dissapointed. Is just a person talking about falling and acrobatics.
