My husband has several and was bitten years ago and spent 5 days in the ICU needing 36 bags of krofab. He doesn't kill any snake but after death does beautiful leather work.

Six copperheads would make a nice pair of snakeskin boots.

Notice he says "we have" a large copperhead. At my place it would be "we had" a copperhead. Size doesn't matter.

Ive lived in northern Alabama for around 3 years now and I havent seen a copperhead yet but I keep the grass mowed short. My neighbors see at least one a year on their properties and they kill them on sight.
Q: What do you call a snake with no fangs?
A: A belt.

🐍Beautiful snake. I have a few corn snakes around my place. I leave them be. I’m not a fan of snakes but mice chew on wires and things so leave the snakes to do there thing.

Venomous eastern copperhead. I have seen only 57 this year. I have seen upwards to a hundred for several years in a row. Very pretty snakes.
Found one a few days back with a jaw issue and posted to FB

I was working in the yard 2012, a copperhead slid past me abt 1ft away, I jumped out of the way, too scared for word...didn't know what kind it was until I described it to neighbors..he said it was a copperhead..I had no idea what he meant..went googled it, I almost passed out...now I don't let any snakes in my yard pass me except the black ones which is supposed tb harmless.

I am so so thankful I came across this very helpful post. I came across one I had accidently run over in my yard. Had never seen one of these before. It was a little over a foot long. Really thick for being so short. All snakes I've seen so short have all been so slender. And the oddest part is it had a pretty green tail at the end. Never seen a snake like this in my life. I've always heard of copperhead in MO..but this was my first experience with one. Has anyone else seen anything like I'm describing? Thank you!

Not a fan. I am a veterinarian and I see too many dogs bitten by these. It causes such painful bites and sometimes tissue necrosis. I love our beautiful black snakes and corn snakes, and the little DeKeys brown snakes that keep showing up in and around my pool. ❤️
