Street Photography Tips - How to Learn from a Master’s Work

In this week's video, we are trying something new. Lukasz highlight's a photo that caught his eye, this one from another photographer named David Sark. At EYExplore, we know that learning from the masters is a great way to improve one's own work. Going through the motions to reproduce an iconic shot can help you understand what that photographer was thinking, how he/she solved the challenge of the scene and ultimately got the shot. In fact, this approach to learning is exactly how we work at EYExplore: we show you our shots and then you practice, thereby walking away with some new expertise and knowledge about photography. Check out the vid for a glimpse into this approach!

Great explanation on the workflow. Where did you Auto focus? Was it on the light panel, since the idea is to make the picture darker by properly exposing the highlights? Thanks.

GREAT idea to explain how you would recreate a known image 🙏👌👍👍Very good concept. Keep on going. I would be really happy to see other examples. Little question: could you tell me where exactly this spot in Shinjuku is located? Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

The settings you describe when shooting with your Nikon; is that a full frame sensor (?) And could you use the same settings on a crop sensor such as the Ricoh GR 3x in order to get the same results?

Hi, do you know if this metro entrance is still boarded up? Thanks

everyone has taken a version of this photo... questions. can anyone claim this as an original work? its a very common local spot.

other question...you choose manual but could
you play with metering modes to get the correct effect? Multi Center Spot. Or narrow the focal area and choose AE/AF?

It’s unfortunate that the metro entrance is currently boarded up. I did learn a lot tho!

Seeing people walking around with big ass DSLRs is mind blowing to me nowadays.

You didn't even show the original photo? Poor form. Give props where they're due.
