That ending is sick as heck, I had to look it up just to see the transmission going out and the citadel disintegrating before your eyes, it beautiful even to this day, it's a pity that the person playing didn't zoom into the dimension tear, you can actually see three other citadels staring back at you, that level of detail and thought you just don't find in many games any more

This ending of the Citadel exploding sums up beautifully what I love about Half Life so much, that sheer sense of spectacle, and being at witness to something so immense the basic human mind cannot comprehend it. Scenes like this are why I defend my opinion that this is the finest first person shooter series, especially in regards to the best story, and overall experience.

Side note: So good to go back over Half Life stuff on YT now we are so close to a new game at long last. It hasn’t felt this good to be a Half Life fan in a long time.

If there was one scene in a game that I wish was made to modern graphics, it would be this.

There's something so ominous and alien about that final transmission. It seems the Citadel is using its last dying gasp to send a distress call back to the Overworld, and you have no idea what horrors that could entail.
