Depending on what ball you receive, depends on what stance you use to send it back. Ie, a shorter ball that you step into will likely be a little more closed (chest facing the side). A ball you take on the run or have to move left to right for will be more open (chest towards the court) 😉

It's interesting how "neutral" and "closed" stance are now synonymous, but in the past "closed" implied a perpendicular to the net type stance that involved little to no rotation, whereas now it's about stepping in and unloading.
