It appears the problem is with the actual barbers at different shops. I have to ask for a low fade to get what this video described as a medium fade. I always thought medium fade was the correct term but every time I ask for medium fade at my barber shop, they’d cut my hair as if I’d just enlisted in the military.

This was super helpful, thank you! I’m a hair stylist at a salon. The school i went to really didn’t do much with men’s cuts, but i did every now and then have some come in. Now I’m working in a military town, so i NEED to have a better knowledge of male cuts. Now i finally know what the different fade styles are 🙈 i wasn’t too far off on high low and med but my tapered was all wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️ thanks for putting this out there and using an actual clients head to explain. 🖖🏼

Your low fade was a mid fade, the mid fade was a high fade and your high fade .... well that was just skinning the side all the way lol. You had no room to blend on your “high fade”
